Mismatched

Is it weird that I obsess over mismatched outfits?

I get a perverse sense of pride when I manage to make two contrasting prints coexist within the same ensemble. It's like I solved a puzzle but mixed two different puzzle sets. It creates a complete picture, but it's kind of forced and not quite right. But it presents a challenge to force yourself (and the viewer) look for beauty when it's not obvious. Our brains are constantly searching for patterns and connections. Constantly looking for symmetry and balance. When I look at two opposing prints or colors, I have to bend my mind to find similarities no matter how abstract the connection is.

But for me, finding the harmony between opposites is one of the greatest victories in personal style. If there is a struggle between two prints, colors, or textures, you have the power to make peace. To find beauty in discord.
