The clash

Keep it classy, but — make it a little weird.

1940s (and 1990s does 40s) silhouettes are my favorite. I find them to be most flattering with their simple, curve accentuating lines. An emphasis on the waist, bust and a slight puff in the shoulders is an instant way to have that timeless ladylike appeal. Of course, I like things to be slightly off-kilter so I decided to mix prints so this ensemble didn’t look too put-together.

An outfit that is a little bit off is (to me) where personal style comes in. If a look is perfect from head to toe, whether every item matches or it’s styled conventionally, it comes across as too canned and boring. Throw in some creative elements to show your personality and taste! It makes people wonder why and how you decided to put your outfit together, drawing them to you — not just what you’re wearing.
