On The Range

I love the challenge of taking something that is seemingly over-the-top or even “ugly” and making it work.

I usually find that adding denim, boots, or converse is the easiest way to tone down something that’s a little extra. But sometimes, I find that going even more over the top with statement jewelry creates balance in an extreme ensemble. There’s something about committing to the craziness that makes it work — when you say, “Yes, this is all intentional” it creates an air of confidence that helps you and everyone else believe in the look. If it looks intentionally over-the-top, people won’t doubt your creativity.

This floor length eyelet lace dress has a little house of the prairie appeal, so to make it more street style appropriate — I added my favorite blue converse and tied my Americana jean jacket around my waist to create a casual vibe and contrast against the formality of the dress and my statement necklace.
